BY CAR
From the north and northwest
From the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94) traveling east (Note: Highway is called I-90/94
East but runs north-south in Chicago metro area). Exit at Ohio Street. Ohio Street is a
one way exit eastbound. Follow Ohio Street east for 12 traffic lights to Fairbanks Court.
Turn left (north) on to Fairbanks Court. When you reach Erie Street, you have entered
Northwestern University's Chicago Campus. Chicago Avenue is 5 blocks north.
From the west
Option 1
Take Interstate 88 east to Interstate 290 East (Eisenhower Expressway). Follow the
signs for Congress Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road until it ends at Columbus Drive.
Turn left (north) on Columbus Drive, which turns into Fairbanks Court, and go north about
a mile. You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.
Option 2
Take Interstate 80 east to I-55 North or I-57 North to I-90/94 West. Exit Congress
Parkway/Expressway. Follow this road east until it ends at Columbus Drive. Turn left
(north) on Columbus Drive, which turns into Fairbanks Court, and go north about a mile.
You are now entering Northwestern University's Chicago Campus.
From the south
Take Interstate 55 North or I-57 North to I-90/94 West/East. Exit Congress Parkway/Expressway.
Follow this road east until it ends at Columbus Drive. Turn left (north) on Columbus Drive,
which turns into Fairbanks Court and go north about a mile. You are now entering Northwestern
University's Chicago Campus.
From Lake Shore Drive (north or south)
Turn west off Lake Shore Drive onto Chicago Avenue (there is a traffic light at Chicago and
Lake Shore Drive). You are now entering the Chicago Campus. Fairbanks Court is the first
traffic light you encounter as you travel west.
Parking
Street parking is sparse and by 2 hour meter only. There is a parking garage at the corner of
Erie and Fairbanks (enter on Erie) and another between Superior and Huron (enter on Superior).
The Erie garage offers discounted parking if you enter before 9:30 a.m. There is also a small
parking garage at the Museum of Contemporary Art (entrance from Chicago Avenue).
