Contract Synchrotron X-ray Data Collection

Shamrock Structures efficiently accesses proprietary synchrotron beam time at the Advanced Photon Source (APS), a mile from our labs, as well as at other synchrotrons, when the APS is unavailable. Through our CrystalEXPRESS™ system, we help you integrate protein crystallography into your research, enabling you to perform structure-based drug discovery. We can simply collect your X-ray diffraction data or we can add more value by also completing structure determinations from those data. Here is how CrystalEXPRESS™ works:

1. Please review the Instructions sheet for additional information: Shamrock DataCollection Instructions
2. Please download and complete the forms below to specify and formalize your request:
   • Use the CAT beamline Date DataSummary spreadsheet to fill in your specific crystal information and data collection instructions in the light green highlighted sections.
   • Use the Hazard Assessment spreadsheet to make changes, if any, to the answers to the questions to indicate any hazards associated with your crystal samples.
   • Use the Sealed Envelope spreadsheet to fill in the requested information about your crystal samples for proprietary data collection.
   After completing these forms, they may be emailed to our crystallographers at info@shamrockstructures.com . Shamrock Structures will happily email these forms to you and provide additional instruction for their completion upon your request.
   Upon our completion of collection of data sets for you, our crystallographers will provide you with reports of our results by sending you the fully completed CAT_beamline_Date_DataSummary spreadsheet, as well as a data collection log sheet for each data set in this format: Shamrock DataCollectionForm
3. Our crystallographers will contact you to discuss our next available synchrotron date and to learn your preferences and priorities regarding the experiment.
4. Send your protein crystals to Shamrock Structures in a dry shipper, preferably via FedEx. Consult our shipping page for more information.
5. We collect data sets from your crystals at the APS (or other facilities, as appropriate). For your convenience, merged intensity files, data processing log files, and our experimental page describing the parameters of data collection are uploaded to our secure online server in real time.
6. After the experimental run, we promptly return your dry shipper and crystals. Your complete data are also sent on a disk. Additionally, our crystallographers are always happy to discuss your results with you and your team.
7. The data collection can be billed as either an hourly rate or on a by-the-dataset paradigm under a fee-for-services agreement.
